Most vegans will agree that the transition to a plant-based diet is difficult at first mostly because of the social aspect. We all love a meal out with friends, but it can be unenjoyable if you can’t find anything to eat besides a bland side salad. So, if you’re already vegan or thinking of experimenting with eating more plant-based foods, we put together a little guide for you. We already talked about how many traditional Egyptian foods are surprisingly vegan friendly, but if you’re in the mood for something else, then these are restaurants with at least one or more satisfying vegan options in Cairo.

Eatery

Not only does this restaurant have a lovely atmosphere, and is located in Cairo Festival City, making it a great stop for a day out shopping, it has vegan options labeled on the menu! Try one of the many vegan sushi rolls, salads, or the Thai red curry pot.

Osana Wellness Café

Along with classes, workshops, and a wonderful community space, Osana also offers great food. Their menu rotates every day, but is always 100% vegetarian, with multiple options being vegan. They also have the best smoothies in the entire world.

Be Good to You

If you’re ever around Katameya, be sure to stop by this place. They have several vegan options labeled clearly on the menu, and they even have vegan protein powder for smoothies! Perfect post-workout spot for sure.

Sea Salt Bakery

This cute little café has a decent selection of vegan baked goods, as well as all-day breakfast which includes vegan chocolate pancakes. Enough said. They also offer great plant-based lunch and dinner options.

Literally any sushi restaurant

So, you’re vegan and your friends want to go out for sushi? Don’t fret! Sushi restaurants are always guaranteed to be super vegan-friendly. At any sushi joint, you can order avocado or cucumber rolls (or even a combination of both). Many sushi restaurants also have their own special vegetable rolls which are usually safe to order. If the roll includes a sauce that’s not vegan, just ask them to skip it.

NOLA

Did you know that everyone’s favorite cupcake shop has several vegan options? If you order four days in advance, you can have vegan cupcakes specially made and delivered to you! Flavors include fudge, vanilla, and blueberry. Just inquire about their “seyami” menu.

Stavolta

Although this gelato spot has only one vegan option, it’s a darn good one. Stavolta’s vegan dark chocolate gelato is rich and decadent. A must-try for any chocolate lover.
