There’s nothing like having a warm plate of food after a long day of exhaustive work. One of the things we enjoy the most about Cairo is its cosmopolitan nature, which is why you’ll find many ethnic food places opening up. Foreign cuisines are on the rise as people headhunt these spots for a soul-satisfying meal, and one of these cuisines is Asian. There’s no doubt that Asian food is nuanced in terms of the ingredients, flavours, and even the process put into making every dish.

Eating out is always fun; however, doing so regularly is not a sustainable choice. Cooking your favourite Asian dishes at home is always an option, but they never hit the same because the ingredients used are either Egyptian or sometimes skipped because they’re not available in Egypt. But, ladies and gentlemen, this might not be a problem anymore, as we bring you a list of Asian supermarkets where you can get authentic ingredients so you can have a delicious home-cooked Asian meal!

Zumra

Might be the most popular Asian market in Cairo, Zumra offers a variety of groceries that are mainly Asian. It is an online platform with its own website to browse and shop for whatever you need. They have many ingredients, snacks, and fresh Asian produce that you can get your hands on. You can find rice cakes, multiple noodles and ramen options, as well as sushi ingredients. You can visit their website from this link.

Almo Mart

From mochi and boba to fresh produce, sauces, and frozen goods, Almo Mart fits the description of how an Asian mart should be. They have a huge variety of Asian groceries and snacks, all at a reasonable price. Unfortunately, they don’t have delivery services just yet, but you can find them in Nasr City, where you’ll also find their small booth of freshly made dumplings and bubble tea just outside their market. Check out their Instagram page here.

Thai Farm

It’s not a mart, but we’re super excited to introduce this one. A Thai Farm! That’s right, a homegrown farm that offers Thai ingredients that you can use to prepare your favourite dishes without the extortionate price tag. Thai Farm has a stand with its ingredients for sale every Saturday at Nun’s Farmer in Zamalek. The people at Thai Farm also cook their own Thai food and provide a catering service, so you can order either fresh or home-cooked Thai food. How refreshing! Check out their Instagram page here.
