High fashion has been on the rise in Egypt, with designers making big moves and coming out with some fabulous fits. Some of their work has even caught the eye of celebrities around the globe. So, next time you spot Gigi Hadid in a pair of super-cute sunnies or see a totally stunning dress on your favourite actress at the Emmys, remember that it could have come straight from the talented mind of an Egyptian designer. From spotting their looks at the glamorous Gouna Film Festival to seeing them on Hollywood red carpets, these Egyptian designers are doing us proud.

Okhtein
If you haven’t heard of Okhtein yet, you must be living under a rock. This sister duo has been dominating the fashion scene with its elegant handbags and eye-catching accessories such as sunglasses and belts. Its items have been seen on the likes of Beyoncé and multiple members of the Kardashian-Jenner clan. Founders Aya and Mounaz’s love for fashion had them visiting
workshops and studying design on their own before building a global empire.

Azza Fahmy
An icon in Egypt’s fashion scene, Azza Fahmy has been creating dazzling pieces of jewellery since 1969. From her early days learning the craft of jewellery making in a factory surrounded by men to designing collections for renowned actress Soad Hosny, Azza Fahmy has become a household name in the Middle East and gained recognition abroad. In recent years, Azza Fahmy’s designs have appeared on runways and in global fashion weeks, and she’s opened up stores abroad in places like the US and UK.

Temraza
Global success Farida Temraz has been making waves with her couture fashion brand, Temraza. The designer took Egypt into the big league when her designs started showing up on the catwalk and on celebrities in Egypt and abroad. A few of her achievements include being named 2017 New York Fashion Week’s Best Female Couture Designer and winning Harper Bazaar’s Best Dressed for Aijoina Alexis’s Emmys outfit in the same year.

Rafik Zaki
His daring signature silhouettes have brought Rafik Zaki to fame. He recently made waves when Chrishell Stause, star of the reality TV show Selling Sunset, turned up to the Emmys in a gorgeous orange gown of his design. The Cairo native chased his dreams by flying to Milan to attend fashion school and debuted his first collection in 2011.
