Pictures surfaced on Masrawy over the weekend that gives us a peek the Grand Egyptian Museum’s latest installation procedures. General Supervisor, Atef Moftah, reportedly received 356 artefacts from the Egyptian Museum in Tahrir Square, which included 57 items from King Tutankhamun’s treasuries, and they will all be placed on display on the stairs. Another collection located near Tut’s items contains two statues of Ptah that weigh around five tons, according to General Director, Eltayeb Abbas.

Reports say that granite statues of Ramses III and Tohotmos have also been moved successfully. Eltayeb highlighted that everything was placed strategically on the “Great Stairs” to tell various stories about each item’s ancient eras. The area includes 70 pieces so far and is expected to receive around 17 more.

Officials say that the security of the artefacts is their utmost priority, and that their restoration process had lasted four months. El Mokawloon El Arab had a hand in moving the heavy pieces, under the full supervision of the GEM.

We can’t wait to see how the final look turns out!
