Egypt’s Invisible Map: Say Hello to Ecotourism in Egypt

Today, we’re venturing into the halls of Cairo University to check out an inspiring and promising graduation project by the senior students of Faculty of Mass Communications! Egypt’s Invisible Map is a campaign, launched on the 22nd of March 2019, by 12 students all majoring in Marketing and Public Relations – English Department.

For their graduation project, the students decided to take a risk and venture into a rather unexplored topic: ecotourism in Egypt. Broadly speaking, ecotourism involves travelling to undisturbed, naturally preserved locations; these locations aren’t typically urban or known to many. This form of tourism, which is growing more popular, not only has a positive impact on travellers and tourism in general, it also allows us to turn an eye to the communities and people who have inhabited these areas for years. Additionally, ecotourism nurtures a greater appreciation for natural habitats.

The students asked themselves several important questions, including what does this form of tourism entail? And why does it matter so much to modern-day travellers? To answer these questions, the team did tons of research and conducted multiple surveys among expats and local friends. Their mission was never an easy one to achieve, with the brainstorming process taking months. Eventually, the students came up with a surprisingly brilliant project.

This project showcases their love for Egypt, as the project primarily focuses on creating awareness about the unknown ecotourism destinations found across the land of Pharaohs. Indeed, the students stated that the core vision of their project is to show eco-travellers all the hidden gems found across Egypt; from the peaks of mountains, all the way to the depths of its seas.

We’re always proud to see initiatives which aim at highlighting the vastness and diversity of Egypt’s beauty, and the many avenues and paths which Egypt’s tourism industry can take. Show them some support by paying their Facebook page a visit.
