Now, it would be easy to begin with the whole ‘Egypt’s tourism is dying’ spiel, but let’s skip the negativity. Yes, there’s a cloud hanging above Egypt and many are reluctant to visit what was once one of the most desirable holiday locations worldwide, but the world is slowly but surely coming to realize that Egypt is alive and kicking – and just as rich with culture, heritage and, frankly, some of the best beaches on the planet as it ever was.

The most recent thing to help the cause came in the form of two of Instagram’s most popular travel influencers in Jason Charles Hill (@jasoncharleshill) and Emilie Ristevski (@helloemilie), who have been taking it all in over the last week across Om El Donia – and we got the chance to join them on some of their excursions.

Having visited the Great Pyramids, dined at Andrea and even strolled through the colorful streets of Khan El Khalili, Hill and Ristevski have also had the chance to take on some of the more off-the-beaten-track experience in Egypt, including a trip to Fayoum – a trip that seems to have had a particular impact on Hill, as he explains in one of his posts.

“Since I was a kid studying ancient history back in school I'd always dreamt of discovering ancient cities & exploring off-beat destinations. For those of you who have been following my Insta stories you'd know that I've had a pretty incredible last few days exploring Egypt…an experience I’ll never forget.”

The visit has fed into the ongoing #ThisIsEgypt campaign which has been making strides in presenting Egypt in a new light to the world. Many have, in fact, pointed to this kind of native, almost organic, form of exposure as a significant part of the push, as Egypt slowly regains its standing as an ideal holiday spot that offers a little bit of everything for all tastes – for the beachgoer, for the culture vulture and for the adventurer; for those looking for luxury and beauty and for those looking for a more rough-and-tumble kind of holiday. Egypt has it all.
