Your Pet Needs a Passport to Travel Abroad
Every pet leaving Egypt must have an official Pet Passport. This document includes the animal’s medical records and all the details needed for safe travel.

Here are the main rules EgyptAir has set for cats and dogs:
- Pets must have a valid vaccination certificate.
- Minimum age for travel is 8 weeks.
- The passenger is fully responsible for the pet throughout the journey.
- EgyptAir is not liable for injury, loss, delays, illness, or entry refusal at the destination.
- Pets are subject to customs regulations at transit and arrival countries.
- A health record and a microchip are required for check-in.
- The pet passport must be presented when travelling abroad.
- Some countries, including the UK, South Africa, Bahrain, the UAE, Yemen, New Zealand, and Australia, do not allow pets in the cabin or as checked baggage. In these cases, pets must be shipped as cargo only.
- Travellers must carry enough food for their pet during the trip and any stopovers.
Special Entry Rules for Pets Travelling to Bahrain
If you’re flying to Bahrain, pets can be transported as live cargo or allowed in the cabin, provided they have an import permit from Bahrain’s Quarantine Authority. This certificate must be stamped with the phrase: “Permitted entry into Bahrain International Airport.”
