‘8-bit Portraits’ by Ahmed El Shaer at Mashrabia Gallery
Although this is his first solo exhibition, versatile artist, Ahmed El Shaer, is well established on Cairo’s art scene, having co-created independent art event, Cairo Documenta. El Shaer’s fascination with the old 8-bit imagery of Atari video games of the 70s and 80s sees him immortalise some of Egypt’s most famous figures in that strangely familiar and comforting pixelation.
