The Japan Foundation Cairo Office commemorates the work and life of legendary Japanese director Akira Kurosawa with a ten-day celebration that will see host screenings of his films as well as guest Q&As. The opening ceremony will be followed by a screening of ‘The Hidden Fortress’ (1958), in which two money-hungry peasants escort man and woman across enemy lines, not realising that they are a princess and her general. Following the screening, film critics Magda Khairallah and Tarek El Shinawi will be joined by director Takashi Koizumi for a Q&A. Japanese with Arabic & English subtitles. Attendance is free.
