As part of the ‘Literary Meanings’ lecture series, the Cervantes Institute welcomes Dr Abeer Abdel Hafex for a lecture that analyses parallel readings of Spanish Nobel laureate Camilo José Cela’s 1942 novel ‘The Family of Pascual Duarte’ and Naguib Mahfouz’s 1961 novel ‘The Thief and the Dog’. Both pieces depict their main characters as angry, violent, marginalised members of society. Attendance is free.
