The last night of the Cairo Human Rights Film Festival will open with a screening of
Umoja: The Village Where Men Are Forbidden and two-part documentary
Confronting the Truth. Human rights activist Ahmed Abul Maged will then sit in for a Q&A, before the curtain closes on the festival with
The Desert of the Forbidden Art; a documentary about one man who, under Soviet repression, rescues 40,000 forbidden fellow
artists’ works and creates a museum in the desert of Uzbekistan, where
he finds artists fusing European modernism with Islamic culture. Screenings will be held in Word Hall 1 and attendance is free. For more information about the festival, click
