‘The Red Sea of Egypt at the Time of the Pharaohs’ at Institut Francais d’Égypte au Caire
The discovery of
three successive archaeological sites on the shores of the Red Sea has quickly
dispelled the myth that Egyptians of the Pharaonic era were not a seafaring
people. Lectured by Egyptologist and University of Paris-Sorbonne professor Pierre
Tallet, this conference is followed by the screening of Stéphane Bégoin’s
French documentary When the Egyptians sailed the Red Sea (2009).
