Cairo 360’s NYE Hot List for Events & Parties
So the big one is here. There are plenty of occasions worth celebrating on the calendar in Egypt, but few measure up to the annual extravaganza that is New Year’s Eve in Cairo.
Yes, the temptation to just skip it and hibernate at home is in us all, but this year, whether you’re looking to party-it-up, so to speak, or mark the beginning of 2017 in decidedly more demure fashion, feast on this.
Cairo’s bars and clubs are out in full force for NYE, with all the top haunts ushering in 2017 in style.
–The Tap Maadi is closing its doors and heading over to a private villa for a house party, with Sewwes, Sebzz and Ramis & Nakhla providing the music, while sister venue, The Tap East, welcomes one and all for The Showdown – a night of hip-hop with DJs Teddy and AK taking to the stage.
–Cairo Jazz Club is gearing up for another of its infamous NYE parties with the help of Ramy DJunkie, who takes over with a special edition of his popular Tazi El Sahra nights – but this time it’s Taxi Ras El Sana.
-Elsewhere, Zamalek’s Riverside follows up a very Christmas-y couple of events with Black & Bling – a night will see the entertainment come via British vocalist, Jolene, as well as local favourite, DJ Fuzzy, and Riverside resident, Tamer Hegzay.
-Speaking of Christmas, Graffiti went all out on the 25th and the Four Seasons Nile Plaza bar is going even harder for NYE with Masquerade Mystery, where belly-dancer, Oxana, and DJ Remon are amongst the acts set to perform.
-If you’re looking for something a little less complicated, look no further than Zigzag. The Downtown Cairo bar has forgone the gimmicks and the themes and is set to host two of its favourite DJs, Aly B and Ouzo.
-No one’s really sure what to expect from Cairo’s newest bar, Wunder Kind. Acclaimed Hungarian techno and tech house DJ, Jay Lumen, headlines a night that will also see the always excellent Baher also performing, but this is one bar that’s full of quirks, so expect the unexpected.
-Elsewhere, the night’s other huge booking come in the form of Third Son, who flies out from London for to headline NYE party, HIDE. Taking place at the Radisson Blue Hotel in Heliopolis, the line-up also features Baher, Ouzo and Demarzo.
Wining & Dining
The above events require energy, patience and a general youthful outlook on life. If you’re running a little low of one or more of these things (it’s been a tough year) then you might want to celebrate the New Year with more of a dinner-and-show kind-of-thing.
Let’s begin at The Palace – The Royal Maxim Palace Kempinski to be precise. With some of the best restaurants in town, you can’t go wrong with the New Cairo hotel. The State is hosting a lavish international buffet with live music (465LE++ / 760LE++ with alcohol), while Asian restaurant, Yana, is offering a lavish six-course menu with its live music (415LE++ / 680LE++ with alcohol).
