Hair Extension: Extension Shop & Salon in Agouza

Ever wished your hair was a bit longer, thicker or more interesting? Hair Extension in Agouza might be the place to visit. In the evenings, the illuminated, large red signage is noticeable from every angle and the glass shopfront and tall walls proudly display, as the name suggests, the extensions and hair pieces for sale.

We were greeted by a smiley shop assistant who was more than happy to help with our browsing. Hair extension stock real, Indian hair, rather than the cheaper polystyrene mix which is less durable. Real hair allows you to treat the extensions as if they were your own; it gives you the ability to curl, straighten and blow dry, without frazzling them.

The extensions come in a multitude of different lengths, colours – including various blondes – and with a range of fixing methods. If they don’t have the exact colour of your hair, for an extra fee, the salon upstairs are able to dye the packed hair to match. The attachment options include bonding and micro rings, weaving and clip-ins. Bonding and micro-ring extensions are glued to the root of your own hair, creating a long-lasting, natural effect. These may possibly be the most convenient, but they are however, the most expensive.

The shortest length of these extensions cost 700LE and the longest will set you back 1470LE per packet. Depending on the length and thickness of your own hair, you may need several packs to create a big-volume effect, and of course, you’ll need to pay a professional to put them in.

The clip-in extensions are more reasonable, costing 7LE per gram. A thick weft of hair, suitable for a whole head, would cost 686LE. If you’re a newbie to hair extensions, it would be advisable to get a hairdresser to sew on the clip bits and demonstrate how they are put in and taken out as it may take some practice. We were quoted 400LE for this process but we reckon this could either be haggled down or found cheaper elsewhere.

Along with natural looking hair extensions, the shop also has wigs and colourful party pieces; you can change your hairstyle for an evening or add temporary, small streaks of colour without the hassle of hair dye. The on-site hair dresser can also order in hair extensions if they haven’t already got exactly what you’re looking for.

Hair extensions are a convenient, fun, and (supposedly) long-lasting way to achieve a desired look. Although Hair Extension seems to be a little on the expensive side, they will guide you through the extension process from start to finish in order to give you those perfect hair days.

360 Tip

For a pampering day, the hair salon above the shop also does eyelash extensions and acrylic nails.

Best Bit

The colour range of real hair pieces and extensions.

Worst Bit

The expense.
