Kempinski The Spa: Intimate Spa at the Kempinski Nile Hotel Cairo

Located on the eleventh floor of the Kempinski Nile Hotel Cairo in Garden City, Kempinski The Spa offers intimate and luxurious spa treatments inspired by seasonal cycles and using purely organic herbal products by the brand Elemental Herbology. This reviewer opted for the 90-minute Autumn Face
facial (700LE), which is ‘designed to effectively prepare the skin’ for winter by
deep cleansing and reenergising the skin.

After
being greeted with a welcome drink and a warm towel at the spa’s reception, you’re
directed down a narrow corridor to the changing area. Once you’ve slipped into
one of the mocha and blue robes, you are given the option of preceding
your facial with a few minutes in the steam room or Jacuzzi. The area is small
and contains two open showers, a toilet and two dressing rooms as well as a steam room, a sauna and a Jacuzzi.

After you’re ushered into the dimly lit spa treatment
room, the spa therapist will tuck pillows under your knees should you request
it, after which she begins the treatment by rubbing 100% Frankincense oil onto
her palms and holding it over your face for you to inhale.

Next, a cleanser is used
all over your face to remove impurities, after which a hot towel is gently pressed
on your face. Then a scrub containing vitamins A, C and E as well as skin-brightening
botanicals is gently but diligently massaged into your skin in circular
motions.

After wiping the scrub off gently with a
hot towel, the therapist proceeds to gently steam your face and then clean out your pore using soft tissues. The whole process is so gentle, you’ll barely feel any pain and won’t believe its thoroughness till you inspect your skin later on.

Then, the therapist applies an oil fusion of rose, chamomile and
sandalwood, which helps calm and hydrate the skin. After that, a mask with argon oil and Marine
Collagen is applied to your face for a few minutes. While the mask dries, the
therapist gives you a thorough head massage, followed by a warming and
revitalising massage of your hands and feet.

After the face is again wiped down with a
hot towel, the technician applies a serum containing green tea and
pomegranate, followed by a facial moisturiser that rehydrates and calms the skin.
Finally, the therapist holds her palms over your face and asks you to inhale rosemary
oil that is supposed to wake you up for a short session in the steam room.

The only complaint that this reviewer had
was that the skin felt significantly dehydrated 48 hours later; so make sure
you explain your skin type before you begin your treatment; especially if your
skin is extremely sensitive.

Treatments at Kempinski The Spa start at
130LE for waxing all the way up to 1200LE for a 180-minute Journey Through the
