Pro Center Mohandiseen: Tower of Health and Fitness in Cairo

Egyptian gym chain Pro Center’s Mohandiseen branch is as close as you can get to a perfect workout environment in Cairo. Located on Thawra Street, the health complex’s
four storeys are equipped with state-of-the-art machinery as well as an impressive
forte of facilities.

Walk into the posh receptions
complete with leather couches to find that all the fun hides behind a card-guarded
door. Once inside this barrier, you find yourself lost in a tower of health and
fitness.

The ground floor serves as
the men’s locker room. Here you can also find a jacuzzi room equipped with two
tubs, a sauna and a massage room as well as a steam room and even a mini
Turkish bath. The sauna and steam room are large enough to fit around five to
seven people, while the Turkish bath can take two at best. All the facilities
are impeccably clean.

The first floor is off-limits
to dudes and dedicated only to women. Here, the ladies get their own facilities
similar to the men’s and even their own solitary workout environment.

The second floor is the
free-weights and machine workout area. Here, you’ll find state-of-the-art
machinery with the oldest machine being a 2010 model. They have machines for
every muscle as well as a large stack of
free weights. You’ll find trainers readily standing by to help you with any
question that you may have about how to use a machine or train a specific
muscle.

On the third floor, the
health-nut in you will be happy to find a floor dedicated strictly to cardio
workouts. Treadmills, bikes and Stairmasters as well as elliptical machines are
lined up from wall to wall, each equipped with an iPod dock, a private TV and
all those perks that make this gym work the extra 1000.

If classes are your thing, the
fourth floor is has classrooms for aerobics, spinning and kinetics
classes. Pro Center even offers some of the hard-to-find
classes like muay Thai and kickboxing.

The gym’s standard membership
rates are 4500LE for a year, 3000LE for six months, 2100LE for three and 900LE
for a one-month subscription. You can get amazing deals and discounts if you’re
a member of the Shooting Club in Dokki or if you sign up in groups of five or
more.

This Pro Center
branch also comes with an indoor heated swimming pool. Their pseudo
outdoor area also has a café serving healthy food and drinks, with a giant
projector screen that was off at the time of our visit.

Although Pro Center’s
Mohandiseen branch is a little pricey, you‘re definitely getting your money’s worth
with its quality facilities. If you’re an avid gym-bunny, this is the place to
blow your membership money on.
