Fat Cow: Burgers and Juicy Wings in Maadi

Once again we hit Road 9, in Maadi, paying a visit to one of Cairo’s well-known burger joints, Fat Cow, which is back in action after having been closed for renovation.

Quite small, with perhaps a total of four or five tables, the venue has an outdoor area that would be perfect for one of those sunny winter days. Limited to Fat Cow’s all-time favourites, the menu offers a number of basics, from which we opted for Fat Burger (125LE), Buffalo Chicken Burger (95LE), and BBQ Wings (75LE).

Starting with the Fat Burger, which we ordered with bacon, cheese, dill pickles, and onions; while the sweet bun was fresh, the patty and the cheese, unfortunately, were bland. The chicken burger fared much better, boasting an equally fresh bun, as well as a perfectly cooked, tender piece of chicken that had spot-on amount of buffalo sauce on top.

Being the star of the show, the BBQ wings were cooked to perfection; the BBQ sauce added a rich flavour, without compromising the wings’ crunch. Another item that made our day was the side of fries, which was both crispy and fresh.

No doubt, we we’re expecting much more from Fat Cow’s burger. However, we can’t help but appreciate the crunchy chicken burger, the fresh buns, as well as the wings that definitely made our day.
