Not so long ago we used to head to work with a packed lunch. While some of us still do this, others prefer ordering food from the comfort of our office desks (and homes, of course). Because we always strive to be “Your Ultimate Guide to Living in the Capital”, today we’ve compiled a list of the five most essential apps when it comes to ordering food. All of the apps are available for both iOS and Android users.

Uber Eats

Uber Eats is perhaps our favourite go-to option for ordering food. The app covers numerous districts and areas in the capital. All you have to do is input your location, and the app automatically generates a list of nearby restaurants. Much like Uber itself, the app will give you promo codes. Additionally, Uber Eats accepts the same promo codes as its ride-hailing mother company.

Otlob

Otlob is Egypt’s oldest food ordering application. As such, the app covers almost the entirety of Cairo. You can order any meal from nearby restaurants. Moreover, Otlob almost always has special offers and discounts.

Elmenus

Elmenus started as a website and app that provided its users with a comprehensive list of restaurants, and their menus (prices included). However, they have now added another service: you can now order food via the app or on the website. Although Elmenus doesn’t currently cover all of Cairo, so you have to double check if they serve your area or not, it is quickly growing in popularity. Furthermore, first-time users receive a 50 LE discount on any order of 100 LE and above; all you have to do is input the promo code FIRST50.

Glovo

Glovo is an eco-friendly application; they use bicycles, not motorcycles, to deliver your order. Currently, their services are available in Maadi, Nasr City, Zamalek, Downtown, Dokki, Mohandseen, and Haram, and an expansion plan is currently being developed. What’s very special about Glovo is that you can also have them deliver groceries, items from nearby pharmacies, and drinks. For first time users, delivery is free; they also have a wide range of offers for all users.

Akelni Chef

Akelni Chef doesn’t charge extra fees; they do not have that delivery tax that restaurants apply on any order. Although AKelni is not the fastest, they do have a wide range of restaurants. The only downside is the fact that they don’t provide users with as many discounts and promotions as the aforementioned apps on this list.
