Piero Review: A Fresh Italian Addition Worth Visiting

Piero is a well-known Italian restaurant brand with several successful branches across Alexandria, and it has now expanded into 6th of October with its first location at the Mall of Egypt. Naturally, we were curious to see whether this new branch would live up to the reputation it has built on the North Coast. We headed there to sample a variety of dishes and experience what the restaurant has to offer. From the moment we walked in, it was clear that Piero aims to deliver an authentic yet accessible Italian dining experience.

A Calm Escape Inside a Bustling Mall

Although Piero is located inside one of the busiest malls in the area, stepping inside feels like entering a completely different space. The noise and fast pace of the mall quickly fade away, giving way to a calm, inviting atmosphere. Soft Italian music plays in the background, adding a charming touch that enhances the overall experience. The interior design leans towards simplicity, with warm tones and comfortable seating that make it suitable for both casual meals and slightly more special occasions.

A Creamy Start: The Funghi Soup

We began our meal with the funghi soup (145 EGP), which arrived hot and inviting. The soup had a rich, creamy texture, while the mushrooms were finely diced, making every spoonful smooth and satisfying. Although the flavour was enjoyable overall, it could have benefited from slightly stronger seasoning to further elevate the taste. The plate works well as a comforting starter that sets the tone for the meal.

Classic Comfort: The Carbonara Pasta

Next came the carbonara pasta (375 EGP), a staple that often defines an Italian kitchen. The dish delivered exactly what you would expect from a comforting pasta plate, with a creamy, garlicky sauce and a generous cheesy flavour. What stood out most was the contrast in texture from the beef bacon; some pieces were tender and coated in sauce, while others were crispy and placed neatly on top as garnish. This added both visual appeal and a satisfying crunch. Every bite felt hearty, balanced, and well executed.

The Star of the Show: T-Bone Steak

The highlight of the meal was undoubtedly the T-bone steak (762 EGP). Cooked to medium-well perfection, it struck a satisfying balance between being fully cooked and still juicy. The dish was served with two side options, making it feel complete and generous.

The meat itself was tender, flavourful, and easy to cut, making it one of the strongest dishes we tried during the visit. It justified its price and easily became the standout plate on the table.

A Sweet Ending: Nutella Strawberry Crepe

To finish the meal, we ordered the Nutella and strawberry crepe (160 EGP). The dessert arrived with a generous drizzle of rich chocolate sauce paired with fresh strawberries that added a slight tanginess to balance the sweetness. The contrast between the creamy chocolate and fresh fruit made it a satisfying ending to the meal. It is a solid dessert option for those looking to end on a sweet note.

Final Thoughts

Overall, Piero delivers a pleasant dining experience with flavourful dishes and a relaxing atmosphere. The pricing feels reasonable for the quality offered, and its location inside the Mall of Egypt makes it easily accessible. Whether you are craving pasta, steak, or a sweet treat, Piero is worth trying if you are in the mood for Italian cuisine in West Cairo.

360 Tip

Try to sit in one of their booths; as they are more comfortable.

Best Bit

The torching of the herbal butter on top of the T-bone steak added visual appeal and gave it a unique flavour.

Worst Bit

The mushroom soup tasted like it was just cooking cream and mushroom, no actual broth.
