Spaghi Spaghetteria: Italian Delights at Sheikh Zayed’s Guezira Plaza‎

Italian restaurants keep popping up in the city, but who’s ever going to complain about there being too many Italian restaurants? After all, it is one of the world’s most famous and loved cuisines.

Located in the lively Guezira plaza, Spaghi Spaghetteria’s mixture of classic Italian looks and modern aesthetic creates a cosy atmosphere. There’s an outdoor area for fresh-air enthusiasts, but we settled on one of the red leather couches inside, which are very accommodating for large groups.

While the menu gathers the classic range you would expect from an Italian restaurant, the wide selection of pasta is stunning, to say the least. Not only do they serve pasta and pizzas, but there are also various lighter options, and gnocchi. We ordered the Super Garlic Bread (60 LE) for starters, Calzone (90 LE), and the Linguine Aglio E Olio (70 LE), and finally Tiramisu for dessert (60 LE).

With vertical slices stuffed with cheese, garlic, butter, and herbs, drizzled olive oil mellowed the flavoursome garlic bread. The olive paste that came on the side complemented the feast, making the dish a delicious start to the experience.

Opting for spaghetti, instead of linguine pasta; the aglio e olio, which was topped with a handful of freshly chopped parsley shredded parmesan and was perfectly cooked. Depending mainly on the garlic and olive oil combination – which might sound boring to some – the dish was on point, and the garlic gave it a nice kick.

The calzone came topped stuffed with sausage, olives, onions, and mozzarella cheese, with fresh tomato that complemented the moist dough. All the ingredients were fresh, but the sausage was a little undercooked.

Full as we were, we couldn’t resist enjoying the single-layer Tiramisu, which boasted a healthy covering of cocoa powder that worked well with the mix of mascarpone and coffee-soaked ladyfingers. It was a delightful end to our meal.

Taking pride in serving Barilla pasta – the renowned pasta brand – Spaghi Spaghetteria offers a wide range of Italian delights that has something to everyone. We loved our experience; from the delicious starter and pasta to the friendly, efficient service.
