33: Summertime Clothing in Korba

Hotter weather has hit Cairo at an alarming speed.
Sandals and lightweight clothing are calling our name sooner than we had expected.
Located in Korba and with other branches in Heliopolis including Genena Mall and Merghany
Street, 33 is a clothing shop with fresh
warm weather options.

The Korba location is situated directly across from
one of our favourite ice cream joints, Mandarine
Koueider
, on Beirut Street. Look out for the lime green sign and
quintessential mannequins in the window.

The small shop has two levels with women’s clothing on
the first floor and men’s on the upper floor. The wooden floors and simple
lighting provide a laidback shopping experience, though the stuffy air might
leave you feeling a bit claustrophobic.

Quiet yet helpful, the sales attendants don’t bother
you while you shop and allow you to do your thing, which we always appreciate.
At our time of visit, the selection of clothing wasn’t exciting, but we did
find some summertime clothes that seemed well-made, breathable and just chic
enough.

Starting at 150LE, gauze poplin shirts come in muted colours
with cinching at the waist and wrists. Knock-off short-sleeved Lacoste polo
shirts (180LE) were also on the shelf in brighter colours, with the standard
gray and white available too. For 250LE,
cotton rompers come in black and brown, providing a sassy easy-to-wear summer one-piece.
If you’re looking for denim, various jeans with embellishments are available
for 200LE and up.

Upstairs, the men’s selection is even smaller, most of
which consists of polo shirts and denim. For 180LE and upwards, knock-off Lacoste
short-sleeved polos come in purple, yellow and green. Formal poplin long-sleeved
shirts also start at 180LE. Similar to the styling of the female denim, men’s
jeans also begin at 200LE.

Dressing rooms are only located on the second floor;
so grab your finds and head upstairs. The rooms are rather tiny and not comfortable
for those already suffering from the shop’s stuffy atmosphere.

On the upside, who wouldn’t take stuffy air over
thumping trance music commonly found in shops around? 33 makes for a quiet and
short shopping experience, great for picking up a shirt for the beach or
stopping in for a new season find. The shop’s Korba location provides it with a
little added charm, too.

360 Tip

Low on cash? Don’t worry. 33 accepts Visa and MasterCard.

Best Bit

Breathable, lightweat tshirts and tops perfect for the summer.

Worst Bit

The selection isn’t great.
