Design Emporium: Lush Interior Decorations in Zamalek

Design Emporium: Lush Interior Decorations in Zamalek
Interior design shops in Cairo are plentiful, but if you’re looking for high-end fabrics and accessories for your house, or in need of a little advice on which direction to take your interior, then Design Emporium in Zamalek is a reliable and resourceful option.

Located on the first floor of The Baehler Mansions, on 26 July of Street in Zamalek, Design Emporium is essentially an agency for international design brands and stocks a significant range of wallpapers, fabrics and trimmings, as well as some lighting and furniture options. From their long list of international brands, the company provides to roughly forty distributors around the country.

The old building and high ceilings are the ideal set up for their services. Vibrant pink and yellow adorn the walls and hung-up fabric samples decorate the spaces, creating an atmosphere that is warm and equally lush. The old French music playing in the background certainly added to the whole ambiance.

With brands such as Ralph Lauren, Designer’s Guild and Nina Campbell, as well as many more, there is an endless choice of fabrics in terms of colours and patterns. Floral, geometric, modern and classic designs come in bright colours, plain and neutral hues. The prices can definitely lean towards the higher side, considering the available brands; fabric weaves can start at 150LE per metre and go all the way up to 3000LE per metre.

For more upholstery purposes, leather is also available in a nice choice of colours (400LE and up/m), as are faux leather options (300LE and up/m), Henry Bertrand silks, satin and faux fur – wouldn’t that be interesting?

Wallpapers (5m) are also in abundance at Design Emporium, and this is where creativity shines. Along with the more standard tastes that start at 250LE per roll, one can also find some rather glitzy, glam ones, as well as glass beaded paper and ‘flocking’ wallpaper which gives a felt finish to your wall (500LE and up/roll). They also stock durable vinyl wallpaper, suitable for kitchens and bathrooms (300LE and up/roll).

Design Emporium also stocks trimmings for sofas, curtains and pillows that come in the form of tassels and borders. A particularly special service comes via the Bery designs, which are customised hand-painted silk carpets and curtains.

Also available is a range of chandeliers by Italian company, Il Vetro Dei Dogi, as well as hand-painted silk fixtures by Venetia Stvdivm. Prices range a whopping 5000-10000.

A special feature that sets Design Emporium apart from any other fabric and home accessories shop is that they act as designers themselves through their Bespoke decorating service, which offers a sit-down consultation for interior decorations. For 5000LE they create mood boards with suggestions on everything from colour palette to fabric choices and theme.

Design Emporium calls on all homeowners and designers, willing to spend a buck or two, to venture into their world of quality products exclusively provided by them. Their meeting room allows for a relaxed browsing experience, so head over and enjoy the hunt for the perfect interior.
