Harry Karen: Simple, Affordable Footwear in Heliopolis

There’s
something about shoes and bags that make us women become a bit delusional. Unfortunately,
the goal of owning every single shoe in
the world is an expensive addiction.
That’s why we embrace shoe shops in Cairo like Harry Karen, which offers
a variety of shoe designs at low prices.

Harry
Karen has several branches in Cairo, including a branch on Baghdad Street near
TBS and across from Beano’s. The large shop space is clean and well-organized;
the white walls and display shelves put the focus on the shoes. Although Harry
Karen seems to be an expensive shop; do
not be fooled. It’s actually a glorified Club Aldo; the quality is
slightly better and there is a larger variety of shoes.

The
first part of the shop is dedicated to smart shoes and bags. A pair of pumps
will set you back around 250LE, whereas flats start at 95LE. The designs are
not something to really get excited about; most are very plain and normal.

In
the back of the shop and around the corner, the shoes and designs get a bit
more exciting. There are some bright colours and this season’s collection has a
lot of beads and chains incorporated in the designs. Moccasins cost 150LE and
flip-flops range between 80LE to 150LE depending on the design.

Kindly note that
the quality of the products is not that high: all the products are made from
synthetics; there is no leather to be found. At the time of this reviewer’s
visit no high heels were to be found either. Most of the pumps had a medium-sized
heel.

The bag
collection consists of shoppers and clutches. The bags are of a slightly better
quality with more interesting designs. However, like the shoes, most of the bags
are very basic. Clutches start from 125LE to 175LE and all shoppers cost around
250LE.

If you
are looking for simple black pumps or a big brown shopper and you don’t want to
spend too much money; then give Harry Karen a try. Most designs are very simple,
and the staff is very friendly and helpful.

360 Tip

The collection changes almost every six to eight weeks; meaning there is always a sale going on and new stock coming in.

Best Bit

The shop is very tidy and organized, and the shoes are very moderately priced.

Worst Bit

If you are looking for killer heels or fashionable wedges then you’ll be disappointed by the collection.
