iShop: Swanky Gadgets Now in Cairo

Let’s face it; we’re addicted to technology in Egypt. We Cairenes are infatuated with our iPods,
lost without our laptops and buried in BBMs. Where would we be without our favourite gizmos and gadgets? Probably making our way to iShop.

Based in Zamalek (and on the web), the iShop is authorised to sell and
service Apple’s chic and pricey products, and it also carries names such as
Blackberry, Logic3 and Bose. The shop is well-stocked with computers, phones
and mp3 players as well as all the must-have accessories to go along with your
toys. From cases to keyboards, earphones
and speakers; iShop has it all.

The small shop packs a lot of merchandise. Thankfully, the products are
cleanly displayed and well-organised, which is useful since the staff won’t necessarily
jump to their feet and assist each new customer that walks through iShop’s doors. A long display table holds a variety of iPod-compatible
docks, such as the Bose SoundDock Series II (2000LE), the Logic3 iStation
Studio (800LE) and the Belkin Bluetook Music Receiver (500LE). Keep your music discreet with Apple earphones
(375LE) or their Bose in-ear equivalent (575LE), or make a louder statement
with a flashy pair of Heart Beats By Lady Gaga headphones (800LE).

Quite a colourful section of the wall is devoted to cases and protectors
for Blackberries and iPhones. Belkin screen protectors (100LE), Case Mate
covers (starting at 175LE) and Blackberry skins (ranging from 50LE to 150LE)
all keep your handsets looking their best. iShop has your laptops covered too, with a range of bags including the
Built laptop sleeve in a variety of colours (165LE), an array of Crumpler
designs priced between 300LE and 800LE, and the super slim LeCie Coats for
125LE.

iShop’s selection of Apple products is key. The MacBook line is
represented in full force from the original MacBook White (7799LE) to the sliver-thin
MacBook Air 120GB (11300LE). The Pro
series, which ranges in screen and memory size, starts at 8999LE and tops at
17499LE. iShop stocks the iPhone 3GS
starting at 4160LE, a range of iPods, and an array of chargers and adaptors for
travel, audio and cable connections.

360 Tip

Check out the store’s website, where you’ll find product information and promotions, and can even shop from home!

Best Bit

This is one of the few stores in Egypt that carries and services your coveted Apple products.

Worst Bit

The mark-up on many of iShop’s harder-to-find products is astronomical. Interestingly, the iPad is not available at the iShop.
