Mango: High-Quality Women’s Wear in Citystars

In Cairo, it is virtually impossible
to find a clothing item that combines affordability, style and high quality. Mango
is the kind of shop where you should expect to drop a decent amount on a new
garment, but you should also know that you are investing in a piece that will
last more than a few seasons.

Located in Heliopolis’ Citystars mall in Phase 1 just across from United Colours of
Benetton, Mango carries almost everything that any modern woman could need. Its
wide space makes for a comfortable shopping experience, even when the shop is
crowded. The sales attendants don’t fuss; they let you do your own thing and
approach them on your own terms.

On the right-hand side of the shop, you can
find maxi dresses in retro patterns and floral prints. If simple is more your
thing, dresses are also available in nude and neutral colours. Most dresses are
priced at above 500LE. As you walk further into the shop, you can find a decent
selection of denim shorts and mini-skirts, all priced at over 300LE.

Mango also carries blazers and
office-appropriate suits, starting at 900LE. Suits come in classic and simple
colours including beige, grey, brown, black, olive green and navy blue. There
are also tables stacked with different trousers, jeans and leggings strewn around
the shop. Despite the hefty price tags, their quality is respectable.

At the time of this reviewer’s
visit, there were sales on many items. A cotton tunic with white, yellow, blue
and pink stripes was originally priced at 520LE, but was selling for 300LE. Other
chiffon and silk tailored blouses were reduced in price from over 700LE to less
than 500LE.

If you find the prices a bit too
high and would rather stick to basics, Mango also offers simple long-sleeved
shirts in different colours for 150LE, whereas a sleeveless basic shirt is
priced at 55LE. Mango’s trademark shirts with the brand logo emblazoned across
the chest are also available for 125LE.

Mango also offers
a limited selection of bangles, handbags and wallets as well as footwear,
scarves and belts. Continuing with the pricing trend, they are also costly but
fashionable. A brown genuine leather bag is priced at 1760LE; and almost all
belts cost more than 300LE. The limited
footwear selection ranges from high-heeled pumps to basic ballet flats.

If you are looking for garments that are of high
quality and style, Mango is a good shop to head to. Just be prepared for the
hefty price tags.
