It is a known fact that the Egyptian fashion scene has been flourishing at an accelerating rate. Cairenes are definitely embracing their love for all things glitzy, glamorous and en vogue.
One boutique which definitely echoes this fashion frenzy is The Dressing Room, located in Zamalek, Cairo’s hub for all kinds of creative venues. Upon entrance, we were greeted by the smile of the sales personnel, who graciously welcomed us into the cosy store.
Concept-wise, The Dressing Room is basically the place to hit up when you’re in need of a unique clothing piece for any occasion. With half its apparel designed by local designers and the other half imported from Paris, it caters to all tastes.
The décor is rather simple, and non-distracting, making the whole focus on the clothes and accessories on display. We did, however, spot a full-body mirror with “selfie station” sprawled on it and thought it added a nice touch to the overall feel of the place.
Amongst the rack of items designed by Egyptian designers, we fell in love with printed kaftan pants from Sherwal (350LE) and a flowy maxi dress by Dina Shaker (250LE). Moving further into the store, we spotted a long-sleeved lace top (780LE), which could easily be either dressed up or dressed down, as well as a white lace adorned maxi dress (660LE) that looked effortlessly comfy to lazily lounge around in.
Amongst the rack of evening wear, our eyes fell on, and then continued to be glued to a long, metallic, hand-beaded dress that was equal parts flattering, as well as eye-catching (6720LE).
We noticed a few other items displayed including swimsuits, bucket bags and clutches, crop tops, jumpsuits, as well as colourful accessories. Furthermore, whilst paying at the cashier, we couldn’t help but grab some gold and metallic flash tattoos (200LE/ sheet) to adorn our recently sun-kissed skin.
To wrap up, The Dressing Room is definitely one for all you non-mainstream-clothes-loving fashionistas to watch out for, thanks to its inimitable fashion offerings, as well as generally pleasant staff. We definitely had a smooth shopping spree and may or may not be planning to go back there again to cause some further damage to our bank accounts.
