Vero Moda: Comfy Cardigans & Sweaters in Mohandiseen
There was a time when once the plane touched ground in Egypt, the possibility of buying even the simplest of clothing items became not a challenge, but a near impossible task. Farewell to foreign lands and their most basic of t-shirts and hello to Cairo where what you own is all you have. Thankfully, nowadays, all you need to do to give that wardrobe a refresher is head to Mohandiseen.

Vero Moda is just one of the many chains that have popped up all over Cairo and secured popularity with a range of casual clothes at relatively reasonable prices. Located on Syria Street, the branch we visited is spacious, filling up two floors with both female and male attire.

On the hunt for casual, everyday clothes, Vero Moda proved to be a good stop. For 100LE-150LE, you can pick up long sleeved cotton t-shirts with pretty detailing, such as a sheer back, which come in a variety of winter colours such as emerald green and royal blue, or a loose crocheted sweater, perfect for the fall months in the city.

For similar prices, there is quite the selection of jeggings in basic colours as well as more daring ones such as red, yellow or green. The denim selection, however, isn’t that big, though there are some particularly skinny cuts if that’s what you’re looking for.

With the new fall collection come the warmer options of sweaters and cardigans. Simple, long cotton cardigans that are button-less and zipper-less are available in a soft blue, black and grey and cost 275LE. Basic cut, stripy sweaters will set you back 255LE, while for the same price you can find plain ones with angora. Cosy winter dresses are available also at 255LE, found in black and maroon colours.

Jumping a bit higher in price, for about 500LE, is the selection of coats. Biker-style jackets, trench coats and winter coats are all available, and a thick, woolly, chequered one stood out in particular.

The men’s section, while smaller than the women’s, offers a much larger variety of jeans (starting at 675LE), which take up most of the collection. However, other items include t-shirts and sports clothes, but more notable are the shoes. Starting at 599LE, one can find lace up shoes similar to Converse and Keds, as well as a range of espadrilles available in different colours and patterns.

While Vero Moda can fulfil your needs for a few new wardrobe items, be prepared to spend a little since three items can easily cost you over 700LE. Moreover, it is their casual section that receives our praise as their evening wear tends to look gaudy and outdated.

The service at this branch was suitable to the shopping experience; no one hassled or followed us around, and the staff were pleasant to deal with.

360 Tip

Try on the clothes because they don’t always fit as expected.

Best Bit

Good option for casual clothes.

Worst Bit

Telling by the pictures on the wall, they don't seem to carry the full collection.
