Like pretty much every shop in this city,
the newly opened Vero Moda branch in Mall of Arabia has tapped into the festive
spirit with a collection of Christmas-inspired winter clothing and New Year’s
Eve appropriate party dresses, all for less than 1000LE.

Located across from Gate 5, Vero Moda’s general
colour theme focuses on mustard yellow, cobalt blue, gold, bright fuchsia, red
and black sequins.

If you can pull off mustard yellow, the
shop has a few dresses in the trendy shade, include a sleeveless wrap dress
with a plunging neckline draped at the waist (365LE) or a one-shoulder top in
the same shade for 255LE. The top matches well with a pair of black slimming
cigarette trousers (499LE) and a sharply cut black blazer with three buttons at
the cuffs for 499LE.

If black is more your thing, you can opt
for the knee length black dress with the large frills down the front and a
chunky golden zipper (365LE), or the short back, one-shoulder dress with a large
ruffle on one side (465LE). Another attractive item was the short black
sequined t-shirt (over 300LE) that would spice up any pair of jeans for a
party.

A more affordable dress is the loose black
one-shoulder knee-length dress in double layered polyester and a large diamante
brooch for 299LE. The dress also comes in a sedated cream. For more eye-popping
colours, you can choose between bright fuchsia ruffled tops and dresses as well
as electric blue cross-strapped dresses (399LE) and a loose blue top with batwing
sleeves.

In terms of patterned dresses, the
collection is pretty limited save for a leopard print short sleeved dress
(365LE) with a round neckline and ruching around the hips (not a friendly cut
for curvy shapes).  A simple A-line dress
in a tweed brown with a small belted waist (399LE) would work well with a pair
of their eggplant coloured stockings and some of their faded golden
accessories.  A large faded gold necklace
with an amethyst-like stone costs 185LE, while a set of gold and painted bangles
cost 165LE.

Large chunky sweaters are available
throughout the shop, including several Christmas-themed prints (sleighs,
reindeers, snow, etc) and one bright red and white patterned sweater with
pompoms and a velour lined hood (465LE), which looked like a trendier, funkier
version of Little Red Riding Hood’s gear. If you like to pretend to live in the
Alps or ski, this winter’s chunky angora knit sweaters (around 465LE) are great
options.  Vero Moda stocks a few coats,
including camel coloured coats with large buttons or sheepskin coats with thick
lining (over 699LE).

The shop stocks a standard collection of
jeans, including a few jeggings in dark muted colours (165LE). A table carries
a small collection of sweat pants (235LE) and matching hoodies (235LE) in
orange, navy blue, olive and grey. None of these colours really made us excited
about working out or lazing about in them.

All in all, Vero Moda has one of this
season’s most impressive collections of party and casual wear at ok prices.
