Surprisingly, Gouna Film Festival isn’t just about the expensive suits and extravagant dresses; it’s a festival that awards successful movies and their brilliant creators. Of course, there are the usual best film or best actor awards, but this year’s festival has more than this to offer, but we want to tell you about some of the lesser-known awards in GFF 2021.

Career Achievement Award

This is an award given to actors whose works left a mark in Egyptian cinema, as well as our lives. The winner of this year’s award was Ahmed El Sakka, the actor who left us in awe after jumping from the top of a waterfall in the movie “Africano”. Throughout his three-decade-long career that started in 1995, El Sakka has created many masterpieces like “Ibrahim El Abyad” and “El Dealer”. We’re definitely looking forward to what he has to offer in the future.

Gouna Green Star Award

Raising awareness about the environment is as important as ever to save our dying planet. El Gouna Film Festival is doing its part by presenting an award to movies concerned with educating people on protecting the environment and preserving wildlife. From now on, this will be a yearly award at GFF, and the winner will receive $10,000.

Cinema For Humanity Award

Movies aren’t just for entertainment. Sometimes they serve a higher purpose by highlighting events that most of us aren’t aware of. The Cinema for Humanity Award is given to movies that bring humanitarian issues under the spotlight. The winner of this award receives $20,000.
