The latest addition to Cairo’s must-visit hot spots has to be the Hall of Selfies, located in the heart of New Cairo, at Cairo Festival City’s Village, Level 2, unit 135. The two-story museum is constructed in the form of a maze. Attendees get to wander around the rooms, exploring the varying themes behind every door. In addition, the museum grants its participants numerous immersive rooms with good lighting and creative settings for a selfie-centred day out.

The Hall of Selfies was founded by selfie enthusiasts Hoda and Iman Abdelaziz. The sisters from California came to Cairo with the groundbreaking idea to unleash a new obsession amid the social media pandemic we currently live in. Upon opening their selfie museum, Gen Zs invaded their venue, using all the different settings, colours, and lighting rooms to fulfil their selfie addiction. So what better way to have fun other than unleashing your creativity with your friends in a photo-friendly atmosphere?

As mentioned, navigating the maze allows you to come across various immersive rooms. For example, you can come up with creative captions by using the scattered letters on a wall and walk down the colourful hues on the Rainbow Runway. There’s also a spinning camera for 360 videos, taking mug shots using funny superlatives, and stepping into mirror rooms for effortless TikTok transitions.

When you’re not taking selfies, you can take part in fun interactive games, like choosing a colour and refraining from stepping on any other as they go up the kaleidoscope ladder, bathing in a bathtub of balls, sliding into a bright blue ball pit, or going back in time to the golden era of Hollywood just by stepping into the Oscar Room.

Also, visitors can spin the wheel and do the pose it lands on, see what their favourite colour says about their personality, walk down the mirrored runway, or change the ambient lighting in the room by voice demand. There’s even much more to explore!

Aside from offering the ideal conditions for the perfect selfie, the masterminds behind the Hall of Selfies promise to regularly update their carefully curated themes for endless opportunities for one-of-a-kind selfies. They also collaborated with photo pioneers, Canon, to provide professional photoshoots that are printable. This way, you won’t only get to pimp your Instagram feed but your home as well! There’s also a gift shop for purchasing souvenirs and merchandise.

For 300 EGP per person, you’ll get one good hour of fun. However, they offer discounts with friend groups. As of now, the online reservation has not been activated, but on-door tickets are available. Working hours during the summer are from 10 AM to 12 AM from Saturdays to Wednesdays, extending to 1 AM on Thursdays and Fridays. For winter timings, the museum is open Saturdays to Wednesdays from 10 AM to 10 PM and closes at 11 PM on Thursdays and Fridays.
