This week’s cold weather had us yearning for a homebound weekend, but then again Cairo’s many events are so enticing that we’ll just add an extra layer of clothing and go out and about. Here’s a glimpse of what’s going on during the weekend:

Thursday begins with two religious music nights; one takes place at El Gomhoria Theatre, courtesy of the Religious Music Ensemble, while the other happens at El Sawy Culturewheel, where El Mawlaweya El Masreya takes to the stage for a Sufi night. Cairo Opera House’s Main Hall hosts a ballet adaptation of one of Tolstoy’s masterpieces, Anna Karenina, performed by The Balleto di Milano.

Elsewhere, The Tap Maadi’s pop music night sees BubbleGum Kollectiv taking to the decks, while DJ Lyon Avakian provides The Tap East’s dose of pop. The Tap West’s night begins with local The Beatles tribute band Glass Onion covering some classics by the fab four before Mobbz takes over for a round of hip-hop tunes.

Cairo Jazz Club hosts a night that sees Raindogs playing some experimental rock numbers, before Minus – T takes over for a round of indie/pop tunes, while Cairo Jazz Club 610 delivers a night called Epic 101 Live, where Mazen, Hashem, and Shiha are on the menu.

When Friday comes, Egyptian pop star Khaled Selim sings some contemporary Arabic tunes on Cairo Opera House’s stage, Ayat Farouq takes to the stage at El Gomhoria Theatre for a round of Oriental classics, while Nogoum El Tarab take to the stage to present the same genre, but at the Arab Music Institute. Speaking of Arabic tunes, pop star Ehab Tawfeeq takes to the stage at Cairo Jazz Club 610, where this edition of Ma Yatloboho Al Mostame3oon also welcomes DJunkie.

Elsewhere, Retrograde play some modern rock, before Doggy Dogg spins some hip-hop at The Tap Maadi, while Wakana opens the night at The Tap East with a house set, followed by DJ Tarkan who’ll be serving a round of EDM tunes. The Tap West’s ElektroLive night features a selection of Djs, including Solbound and TWOB, while Cairo Jazz Club’s lineup includes Misty and Ashmawy, who’ll be taking to the decks back-to-back.

As for Saturday, the night begins with a Beethoven tribute concert at Cairo Opera House, before The Tap Jazz Trio takes to the stage at The Tap West, and Double Trouble play a host of acoustic tunes on stage at The Tap East. The weekend comes to a close at The Tap Maadi, where a jam night welcomes all the talented Cairenes out there to join.

That’s not all, check the whole lot on the Cairo 360 Events Page. Happy Weekend!
