Hello Cairo!

With ‘Sahel Season’ over, the focus has shifted back to the capital with some of the country’s best and brightest come out to play.

There’s plenty of live music on Thursday, starting at Cairo Jazz Club, where acoustic ace, Hassan Ramzy, kicks things off before local rock band, the Cadillacs close the night. Meanwhile, over in Maadi, Vybe bring their rock, blues and funk covers to the tap, while Riham Mostafa performs at Onyx Lounge.

Also at Fairmont Nile City, Napa Grill hosts another of its Thursday night Seafood Festivals, while O Bar’s Thursday Obsession sees DJ Shady Maher join resident DJ, Irma, for a night of house.

Elsewhere, the Sakia Puppet Theatre returns for another edition of Om Kolthoum Back on Stage at El Sawy Culturewheel, while one of the most in-demand belly-dancers in Egypt right now, Amie Sultan, performs at Sofitel Cairo El Gezirah’s La Palmeraie.

Back at El Sawy Culturewheel, meanwhile, Moneeb Band are back in action.

There’s more live music at the Tap on Friday as local band Bluezophrenia take to the stage, while in one of the biggest events of the weekend, Mashrou3 Leila, Massar Egbari, Salalem, Jadal, Sharmoofers and El Moraba3 come together at the Chinese Gardens in Nasr City’s Cairo International Conference Centre for the third edition of the London Sound Music Festival.

Elsewhere, Garden City’s ROOM Art Space welcomes Egyptian singer-songwriter, Rania Shaalan, and the unique Aragide bring their traditional Nubian sounds to El Sawy Culturewheel.

Cairo Jazz Club is set to welcome two of the best young DJs in the city, as Fairouz T ad Special K take to the decks, while O Bar welcomes Fadi El Nemr. Elsewhere at Fairmont Nile City, belly-dancer, Soraya, returns to Bab El Nil and Lana performs at Saigon Restaurant & Lounge.

Cairo Jazz Club wraps up the weekend with a huge gig on Saturday, as Jordanian rock band, El Morabba3, perform, while Zamalek's newest gallery, the Shelter, opens bright and early for its official opening.

Rami Attallah and his band return to ROOM Art Space for an evening of jazz and Hassan Ramzy closes the weekend at the Tap with some acoustic numbers.
