Hello Cairo!

The weekend has arrived and whether its art, music, food or theatre, there’s plenty going on in the capital.

Dokki nightspot, Alchemy, hosts another edition of its popular whiskey night, Molten Amber, and the Lemon Tree & Co. in Zamalek hosts Los Compadres, while Pach Sharm resident, DJ Medoz, leads a night of hip-hop and R&B at Rooftop Lounge in Garden City.

There’s plenty going on at Fairmont Nile City as usual, with belly-dancer, Leila, performing at Bab El Nil, Egyptian singer, Noha Taha, returning to Saigon Restaurant & Lounge and O Bar welcoming DJ duo, Carlos & Vega.

Elsewhere, up-and-coming DJ, kidmims;, is in charge of the music at Maadi bar, the Tap, while musical collective, KIK, make a rare group appearance on the VENT stage.

Friday starts early(ish) at Nile-side Giza bar and lounge, Eat & Barrel, welcomes DJs, Gawdat, A-Squared, Nourre Fahmy and Amr El Banna, for Eat to the Beat, while later in the evening, Cairo Jazz Club welcomes back on of its most popular regulars, DJ Mohasseb.

Over in Heliopolis, it’s Lebanese Night at nightclub, Cavallini, while Fairmont Nile City’s O Bar welcomes DJ Irma and DJ Nii for a night of house music. Also at the Fairmont, Lana belts out some tunes at Saigon Restaurant & Lounge.

Elsewhere, Belgian DJ duo, Vijay & Sofia, lead a night that will also feature DJ Tahawy at Riverside, while experimental electronic musician, Maurice Louca, performs at ROOM Art Space in Garden City.

At the other end of the musical spectrum, meanwhile, the Cairo Symphony Orchestra performs the work of George Bizet at Cairo Opera House.

There’s another double-header of live music at Cairo Jazz Club on Saturday, as brass band, the Blowers, and experimental Oriental group, Storm Band, take to the stage, while Garden City’s ROOM Art Space hosts a night of live music of its own, with singer/songwriter, Shady Ahmed, teaming up with guitarist, Ousso Lotfy.

Elsewhere, it’s Oldies Night at Cavallini in Heliopolis and there’s plenty of Lebanese Love to go round in Giza at Bamboo.

On a different note, the 46th annual edition of the Cairo International Book Fair continues throughout the weekend, while new art comes courtesy of Arts-Mart with group exhibition, The Artists of Tomorrow.
