Let’s cut the small-talk this week and jump into what is busy weekend that has a little bit of something for everyone, including more from D-CAF, Egypt’s biggest food and beverage industry events as well as one of its biggest food festivals, too, and a whole host of music and nightlife.

Later in the evening, Theater of Dreams closes its season with one of the highlight music events of the weekend, as legendary British DJ, Nick Warren, headlines TOD’s latest party, with Cairo’s Baher also taking to the decks at Riverside in Zamalek.

More electronic music can be found at Bus Stop in New Cairo who kick off their weekend with DJ Akladios, as well  the Garden Nile Fron in Manial who host Tamer Auf and Hady Tarek.

There’s plenty of live music around the city, too, with Cairo Jazz Club hosting a double header with Funk OFF and Vybe, and Bluezophrenia returning to Maadi bar, the Tap, while Salalem perform at After Eight and the uniquely talented Youssra El Harawy takes to the stage at ROOM Art Space in Garden City.

Meanwhile, the first of two big D-CAF music events this weekend sees Tunisian collective, Arabstazy, perform at Sherazade. Elsewhere, Dora’s Pirate Adventure moves into the second of six day run at the Marquee, while Cairo Opera House’s ballet production of Romeo & Juiet begins.

Foodies will be heading to Heliopolis’ Merryland Park this weekend, as Friday sees the return of annual food festival, Cairo Bites, with food, drink, entertainment and other activities over two days. More fun in the sun can be had over at Westown Hub, meanwhile, where a special Spring Festival is also bringing together food, drink, entertainment and more.

An inevitably less-family-friendly afternoon is set to take places at Royal Maxim Kempinski, meanwhile, where open-bar day-party, Cream, is set to welcomes Disco Misr, Masters at Funk and Ramy DJunkie.

The evening’s entertainment comes in all shapes and sizes, starting with another D-CAF gig – this time in the form of a Shaabi Night that will see Studio Stella, Ahmed El Sweasy, Abdelbaset Hammouda and Islam Chipsy perform.

Elsewhere, Electronic Fridays at Fairmont Nile City’s two-room club, TwøFøld, welcomes Aly Goede to Room 1 and Gaser and Hassan Abou Allam to Room 2, while Cairo Jazz Club series, Beats Landing returns for 2016 with Brazilian DJ, Wehhba, headlining a night that will also see Abou Samra take to the decks.

Elsewhere, Nile-side Giza venue hosts its last Retro Disco event of the season with a returning David Stepanoff bringing his unique s 70’s disco & funk-inspired sets, while music at ROOM Art Space comes courtesy of alternative rock band, Malaaz.

Saturday is slightly quieter and kicks off with Nacelle’s FamJam – a day of music, food, drink and other activities out in the open at Royal Club Mohamed-Aly, though there’s also the second day of Cairo Bites and more of Cafex, of course.

At Cairo Opera House meanwhile, the Live From the Met screening series is set to beam Donizetti's Roberto Devereux to audiences, while increasingly popular jazz singer, Mostafa Rizk, performs at El Sawy Culturewheel and Cairo Jazz Club wind down the weekend with the Rai fusion music of Sahra.
