Hello Cairo!

Summer is starting to fade in and with that bring comes plenty of festivities, with this particular weekend ipaying testemant to that, with everything from music to carnivals and even an eco-sports festival!

Said festival comes in the form of RUSH, which kicks off on Thursday and carries on for three days at Magic Lake Fayoum. As the brainchild of Dune Raider Sandboarding, the event will see a whole a host of activities take place as well as the first ever world tour championship in Egypt.

Elsewhere, Goldierocks, Oka & Ortega and Chiati taake to the stage of the Greek Campus in Downtown Cairo as part of this year's D-CAF,while Cairo Jazz Club hosts a special night of music with Orchestra El Berengan and the talented Sharmoofers, and Egyptian jazz pioneer, Yehya Khalil, performs at Cairo Opera House.

Venue Lounge & Bar hosts the recently launched party series, We R Somebody with a line up that includes DJs Ayman Nageeb & Fuzzy, as well as DJ Bic, while Swiss Inn’s Rooftop welcomes DJs Shadow, Paulo and Your Noise for Fabric Night 002.

Garden City’s ROOM Art Space features the talents of Rassef L’bkariya and young prodigy, Nathalie Saba, while the ‘Here We Are Now’ exhibition by Cairo-based British photographer Steve Double opens to the public at Maadi bar, the Tap, displaying his work with some of the biggest music stars in the world.

Things kick off on Friday at Palm Hills Club in 6th of October City, where Palm Hills Development host their first pop-up market, Crate & Containers. Later in the evening, Cairo Jazz Club welcomes Omar Sherif and Nader Tahawy to the decks for a night of indie and tech tunes, while the increasingly popular series, Riverdeep, features Amr Hosny and Hadi at Riverside.

The Zee Festival kicks off at Nile University in collaboration with El Sawy Culturewheel, Arkan, Dunes, Al Korba and Dorra Group, featuring live entertainment and a book fair.

Across town, season three of Our Wedding Carnival is underway at the InterContinental Semiramis with two consecutive days of catwalk shows, make-up demonstrations, live hair styling and hundreds of vendors setting up shop.

Next door in Garden City, Bluezophrenia take over ROOM Art Space with their signature brand of rock and roll, while Maadi bar, The Tap, welcomes Funk Off for an night of upbeat music.

Saturday at the Tap, meanwhile, sees Tamer the Guvna perform rock and acoustic numbers, while Alexandrian band, Karakeeb, take over Cairo Jazz Club with their pop, folk and oriental tunes.

There's more from D-CAF, too, including a screening of 'Today' at Cinema Odeon, as well as the interactive theatre, The Library, at The Greek Campus. If you're looking to party to the wee hours of the morning, Cavallini takes a stroll down memory lane with Oldies Night, while Bamboo brings a little slice of Beirut to Cairo for Lebanese Love.

Art exhibitions this week include ‘Echoes of Time II’ by Magdy Abdel Aziz at the El Bab Selim Gallery, as well as ‘The Silence of Music’ by Suheil Baddour at Nile Art Gallery, and ‘Remembering Mahmoud Said’ at Safar Khan Art Gallery.
