Are you an art enthusiast or an artist going through a creative block? Then, we have the right inspiration for you. Next month, the Downtown Contemporary Arts Festival (D-CAF) is bringing art from all over the world to the heart of Cairo.

Coming back strong after a two-year absence due to COVID-19, D-CAF will host their 9th festival with over 55 artists from around the world. With a mind-blowing lineup of distinguished artistic talents, this huge event will be held at various remarkable and historic locations across Downtown Cairo.

Get ready for three weeks filled with visual art performances, virtual reality movies, dance performances, and loads more. You wouldn’t want to miss out on such progressive and contemporary representations of art. Every corner of Downtown Cairo will celebrate art created by international performers from Switzerland, France, Morocco, Hungary, and Syria. The festival offers art information sessions and environmental development events to spread awareness on global warming and similar serious issues. Many of the dance, poetry, interactive installations, and neo-puppetry are premiering for the first time in Egypt, possibly worldwide.

Forgotten as if You Never Were (Egypt)

The programme is divided into visual art & new media, music, performing arts, and urban visions. All the programmes are centred on combining diverse cultures and adding modern twists to traditional forms of art expression.

Many of these performances are free to enter, but you’ll have to get tickets for some, with ticket prices ranging from 80 LE to 100 LE. The best part about this year’s festival is that you can buy a ticket for someone less fortunate and allow them the chance to try this art experience through the festival’s #ArtofSharing campaign. You can donate an extra 80 LE/100 LE online here. All events require reservations through the website – even those that are free.
