With Egypt as a great supporter of some of the MENA Region’s most innovative idea. And, since our country is considered to be the fastest growing startup market and second biggest in the MENA region, it’s no surprise that Egypt will play an integral role in the Singularity University’s Global Impact Challenge (GIC), hosted in El Gouna this July.

So, what is GIC? The Global Impact Challenges are annual competitions organised by theme and geography. Supposedly, these challenges are an open call to all entrepreneurs, scientists, engineers, and leaders with the most creative ideas for startups and innovations that can impact the lives of millions.

In a statement earlier this April, Singularity University (SU) – which is a global innovation and learning community that uses exponential technologies to tackle the world’s biggest challenges – has acknowledged that the top 20 shortlisted finalists of the challenge will be invited to El Gouna to attend a boot camp. This will run from the 19th until the 24th of July, right before the final pitch event. The applications are set to close on the 7th of June, while the live pitch and winner announcement event will take place on the 26th of July.

In this year’s GIC, SU is focusing on various aspects, such as Energy, Agriculture, Transportation, Education, Health, and Fintech. The purpose of the MENA GIC is to foster startups and innovations that positively influence the lives of the Middle Eastern and North African people. The challenge is available to citizens and residents of Egypt, Bahrain, Algeria, Lebanon, Jordan, Morocco, Oman, Libya, Tunisia, Syria, Yemen, Palestine, KSA, Iraq, Sudan, and Kuwait.

Do you think you have a brilliant idea that tackles any of these issues mentioned above? Can you help in impacting a billion people in 10 years? Take your shot and apply now to have a chance of being one of those who attend the final boot camp in El Gouna this July!
