In a bid to fight the relentless pandemic that is Coronavirus (COVID-19), Google is offering its workplace video chat ‘Hangouts Meet’ premium option free of charge until the 1st of July. This feature was announced through a recent blog post by Google, which will enable users to finish their work remotely without having to meet up.
“We’re committed to supporting our users and customers during this challenging time, and are continuing to scale our infrastructure to support greater Hangouts Meet demand, ensuring streamlined, reliable access to the service throughout this period,” reads the blog post.
Schools and universities have been suspended for two weeks, and lectures have been taken to the internet through various media outlets including Zoom and Skype, among others. Similarly, a call on Hangouts Meet can take up to 250 participants, live streams for up to 100,000 viewers, as well as saving the calls to Google Drive.
We strongly support such actions that keep everyone safe from the dangerous spreading of what seems to be the most significant threat of the last decade.
