A deadly 7.8 magnitude earthquake has left over 5000 dead in Turkey and Syria after it struck the region on Monday, February 6. Unfortunately, the death toll continues to rise, and thousands more were injured following the strongest earthquake to hit Turkey in over 80 years.

Egypt has already stepped in to help as the Ministry of Foreign Affairs offered its condolences and pledged to send aid to the affected areas, according to Ahram Online. Rescuers have been searching the rubble of collapsed buildings in an effort to locate survivors after this catastrophic event.

For those who are interested in helping out, here are some organisations that you can donate to:

The United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF) has rushed to provide emergency relief to children and families and is currently on the ground in Syria. You can donate here.

Turkish Red Cresent (Türk Kızılay)

This organisation has mobilised all of its teams to support the earthquake victims. Türk Kızılay took action immediately after the earthquake. They directed mobile kitchen and catering vehicles to the epicentre region, dispatched tents and blankets to earthquake zones, and started to deliver blood for urgent cases. Donate here to support them.

Humanitarian Relief Foundation

The IHH Humanitarian Relief Foundation has over 1100 personnel and volunteers working to deliver water, food and emergency supplies to the region. Donate here to help those affected by the earthquake.
