It’s been a busy year for Huawei in Egypt, with the presence of the telecommunications giant in Egypt seemingly knowing no limits. With several new smartphones hitting the market in recent times, Huawei has also been a supporter of a wide range of innovative, youth-orientated activities and initiatives – everything from Ice Age Live! Coming to the Middle East for the first time to support Cairokee in the band’s anniversary tour.

Huawei’s increasing popularity has led to the recent opening of a new store – the first in Egypt and North Africa. Located at Heliopolis shopping centre, Citystars, the store launched in style, with Al Ahly footballers, Shady Mohamed, Wael Chetos and Mohamed Farouk, attending as part of Huawei’s recently established partnership with Africa’s biggest football club. They were in good company at the event as fans clamoured to catch a glimpse of the stars, with Huawei’s vice-president, also in attendance alongside partners, including Delta and Raya.

The launch also saw shoppers enter a prize draw that saw Huawei give out smartphones and Al Ahly shirts, while also putting into motion another competition to find ‘Huawei’s Star’.

The competition will hit the road, with Huawei set to take to shopping centres    across Egypt including Citystars , Maadi City Center , Cairo Festival City and Mall of Arabia, as well as Alexandria City Center and even El Gouna, inviting shoppers to have their photo taken at a special booth; these photos will then be uploaded to Facebook or Instagram using the hash-tag #HuaweiStar, where users can vote for who they think should be the face of Huawei’s next campaign – yes, this could be your big break.
