Like any other self-disciplinary practice, fasting for long hours – especially in this weather – is not the easiest thing in the world. However, it’s beneficial for your body, mind, and soul. In our modern world, the concept of abstinence could be applied to any of the many unhealthy attachments that we have –not just food or water.

Imagine abstaining from using your phone during a Ramadan outing, or at least for 30 minutes out of the gathering; the thought might be frightening at first glance, but those minutes spent outside the digital virtual world can be invested in creating a deeper connection with those you share the table with. Digital fasting, especially in Ramadan, will definitely do you good, and with Inertia’s initiative, it will also help others who are in need, how’s that?

The Egyptian real estate company has teamed up with the Egyptian Food Bank for the third year in a row to bring the Digital Fasting for Good initiative, which is set to be available during the 4 weekends of Ramadan at various restaurants in different areas around the city, including Zamalek, Maadi, Sheikh Zayed, Heliopolis, New Cairo, and 6th of October City.

Each restaurant will be supplied with boxes, where customers will have the option of keeping their phones during their stay. In addition to a portable charging station, where for every 30 minutes a phone remains locked in the box or the station, four meals will be given to the underprivileged by Inertia and the Egyptian food bank.

The successful beginning for the initiative was last week, being held at in Bocca Eatery and Social House, Crave and The Platform; where 700 meals were donated to unprivileged families.

Digital Fasting for Good is sure to be beneficial for everyone; it will bring you more joy and fun to your table, and food to that of a person in need. Want to enjoy a different Ramadan this year? Join them next week at Capital Promenade, Crave (Waterway), Serena Eatery (The Platform). Stay tuned to Inertia’s social media pages through #DisconnectToConnect for updates on the coming weekend’s locations.
