Every thrillseeker is always on the hunt for their next heartracing activity. Unfortunately, our busy schedules usually make it difficult to jet off and climb Mount Everest. However, there are still tons of activities that will get your blood pumping. We’ve made a list of some adventurous activities that you can do this summer right here in Cairo.

Nile Kayaking

Egypt is known as the gift of the Nile for a good reason. We’ve gotten plenty of use out of it from food and water to entertainment. Kayaking on the Nile is a water sport that both experts and beginners can join in on. It’s also a great way to have fun while getting some fresh air away from the crowds of Cairo’s streets. Nile Kayak Club organises recreational kayaking tours across the country so you can spend your day gazing out across the river under the beautiful Cairo sun.

Ziplining

Flying through the air is sure to give you an adrenaline rush that you’ll never forget. Mario High Ropes Team in Mokattam will let you live out your super spy fantasies as you climb up mountains, zipline across an old church and traverse across both high and low rope courses.

Rock Climbing

If you’re looking for an exciting way to get in shape while avoiding the gym, rock climbing may just be the perfect new activity for you. It’s a full body workout that you can do indoors or out in nature. Ascent, Egypt’s biggest indoor climbing facility, is located in Sheikh Zayed and has certified instructors to get you to the next level. Their guidance will help climbers improve their strength and endurance while mastering new techniques. Fingerlock in New Cairo is another option with a 12 metre high artificial mountain, and the JW Marriott Hotel’s health centre also boasts an impressive climbing wall.

Cycling

You may have seen groups of cyclists zooming through the streets of Cairo, but have you ever thought about joining them? Cycling is not only an eco-friendly way to get around but it’s also great exercise. This activity gives you the chance to see our streets in a totally new way. There are several cyclist groups that you can join who help organise group rides including the Cairo Cycler’s Club and Go Bike.

Horseback Riding

Giddy-up! If you want to get back in the saddle when it comes to an active lifestyle, then give horseback riding a shot. There are clubs and schools across Cairo where beginners can learn all about the sport. Check out Royal Academy, The Egyptian Riding School, Egypt Horse Riding & Photography and Laila Oasis Arabians.
