Step into the future as you enter the world’s first air-purifying experience in Egypt that is set to raise awareness and inspire change towards increasing sustainability and combating air pollution for the next generation. Don’t miss out on this one-of-a-kind experience, and bring the whole family to the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization to try out the Air Bubble yourselves from Dec 15th until December 19th.

Otrivin, a world leader in nasal health and congestion, has launched the Air Bubble to help demonstrate how members of our community can take simple, everyday actions that encourage cleaner air. Children will especially enjoy and benefit from this experience as they have a blast bouncing around inside their Air Bubble while learning about ways in which biotechnology is being used to purify the air they’re breathing.

As one of the most imminent threats to environmental health, air pollution is a serious concern that will affect the lives of our children for years to come. According to the World Health Organization, about 93% of children breathe polluted air every day. In Cairo, where PM2.5 (hazardous air particles) levels are 11.7 times higher than the recommended safe level, this technology is even more crucial as citizens are subjected to higher health risks and increasing treatment costs. So, it only makes sense that our city is the latest stop for Otrivin’s travelling Air Bubble, following Poland and the UK.

Otrivin is a GSK Consumer Healthcare (member of the Haleon group) brand and is available in many countries worldwide, with a range of medicated & non-medicated nasal health products available for babies, children, and adults covering needs from cold & flu nasal congestion to everyday nasal hygiene. The global leader in consumer health is establishing a strong role in the Egyptian community, bringing consumers much-loved brands, including Sensodyne, Voltaren, Panadol, and Otrivin.

Nabil Besri, General Manager of GSK Consumer Healthcare (member of the Haleon group) in North Africa, explained the positive changes we can expect following the Air Bubble experience.

“We have a unique opportunity to help break down the environmental and social barriers that hold people back from better everyday health. In bringing the Otrivin Air Bubble to Egypt, we’re demonstrating our ability to provide localised solutions to crucial issues. As part of our purpose to deliver better everyday health to humanity, we are committed to playing a part in mobilising an increase in urgency and ambition to tackle climate change. We hope that the Otrivin Air Bubble activation will help ignite a broader conversation about the importance of protecting the environment and public health from the devasting impact of air pollution,” he said.

The Air Bubble was developed in partnership with ecoLogicStudio, a pioneer in applied bio-solutions in urban architecture, and it brings innovative nature-based technology to Egypt for the first time.

Dr Marco Poletto, co-founder of ecoLogic Studio, said, “Scholars have long acknowledged Ancient Egypt as one of the cradles of civilisation. In those times, the Nile River deposited the unique microbiome of bacteria and microorganisms at regular intervals, aiding the land to become fertile. Thousands of years later, we stand here today to celebrate this life-giving process. Air Bubble revives its heritage devoting it to the contemporary challenge of building a new, carbon-neutral civilisation. Air Bubble proposes a tangible vision of how a net zero civilisation can clean its pollution, produce its energy, grow its food, and construct its buildings in the next 30 years starting now”.

Otrivin’s remarkable creation educates children and drives change by empowering agents of the future, inspiring them to forge solutions tackling pertinent issues. Until then, GSK Consumer Healthcare hopes to promote simple, everyday steps that people can take to help them breathe cleaner air, including choosing low-carbon emitting transport, proactively monitoring pollution exposure, purifying the air by ventilating cooking areas and vacuuming their homes regularly.
