Huawei has enjoyed a renewed presence in Egypt as of late and the global company’s latest release is possibly its most important yet. The new P9 and P9 Plus is a bold step forward in the smartphone market, combining industry-leading communication and social capabilities with high-end camera optics. Produced in collaboration with German lens geniuses Leica Camera AG, the P9 and P9 Plus look set to take the smartphone world by storm.

The Nile Ritz-Carlton played host to a star-studded launch event, with the Nicole Saba taking to the stage to serenade the gathered tech-heads, giving them something fabulous to test those new Leica cameras on. The incomparable Tara Emad hosted the evening, and some of the gathered photographers were given the chance to finally get their hands on the P9 and P9 Plus.

Huawei Device North Africa’s Bruce Fan was also on hand to really drive home how important the P9 and P9 Plus are.

Leica have approached every angle (excuse the pun) of this new device with the utmost care to make sure the photographic experience measures up to the Leica name. For example, the RGB sensor has been optimized to capture differing colours and tones as clearly and sharply as possible. The monochrome sensor, however, has been engineered to capture the fine detail that you want in an image. This tandem effort allows your photos to truly pop with colour and crystal-clear clarity. However, Leica have not forgotten their roots, and this is apparent in the three film settings; Standard, Vivid Colours (flexing more of that colour sensor), and Smoorh Colours (more of the influence of that monochrome sensor’s clarity). Furthermore, Huwaei’s Hybrid focus technology provides the speed and accuracy that means you’ll never miss a shot.
