With summer being right around the corner, a long list of highly anticipated movies comes with it! From new instalments of massive franchise blockbusters to fresh takes on old stories and a bunch of movies that were heavily teased and promoted for the past months, in some cases, even years, there are tons of exciting films to look forward to.

The year in movies so far has been quite impressive as we got to dive deep into the ocean with the live-action adaptation of Disney’s classic The Little Mermaid, after years of development, soar the skies with Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, and faced off John Wick’s enemies in the fourth chapter.

Now it’s time for cinephiles to grab their popcorn and get ready, as the summer schedule is setting up a promising year in theatres.

Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny

It’s been fifteen years since everyone’s favourite archaeologist went on an adventure, but the wait is over! In the final instalment, Indy will race against time to retrieve a rare artefact that holds immense power. The movie will feature a new writer and director for the first time in the franchise’s history, so let’s hope it captures the classic Indiana Jones vibe.

The Flash

Even though it has faced many challenges, from multiple director changes, COVID-19 delays, and endless controversies led by Ezra Miller, the movie is claimed to be the best superhero movie of all time. We can’t wait to see Barry Allen teaming up with Batman, Supergirl, and his own alternate self to try and fix the chaotic aftermath of time travel. Also, Michael Keaton’s return as the Dark Knight has to be the cherry on top!

Voy! Voy! Voy!

Another controversial movie on the list has been halted in production due to a court battle over copyrights. It’s based on a true story of a security guard who fulfils his dream of living abroad by posing as a visually impaired man to join the team of blind soccer right before the World Cup tournament in Europe.

Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One

Time has proven again and again that this is one of the greatest action franchises to date. In the seventh instalment, our heroes will take on a new global threat to save humanity.

Barbie

With such a star-studded cast, do we even care what the movie will be about? Well, if you do, then the first-ever live-action Barbie film follows the power couples’ journey from Barbieland to the real world in search of true happiness.

Shamareekh

Created and directed by the legendary Amr Salama, it revolves around the idea of the pressures that a person is exposed to in life. A businessman who lives in the shadows falls for a girl who lives in the light, and they both want to escape the pressures of their lives.

Oppenheimer

Christopher Nolan’s newest entry follows the true story of American physicist Robert Oppenheimer and how he contributed to the Manhattan Project by creating an atomic bomb that changed the world forever. The three-hour movie reportedly had a $100 million budget for the effects, promising viewers an experience they’ve never seen before.

El Serb

This star-studded movie has been in production limbo for over two years, which increased our eagerness to watch it. It’s a war movie stating factual details on the work of the Egyptian security authorities against terrorist groups, including the massacre of 21 locals in Libya.
