New films hit our theaters this week, with the release of three action-thrillers: Jennifer Lawrence’s Red Sparrow,  the action film Braven starring Jason Momoa and, lastly, the British thriller, The Hatching.

Red Sparrow

What’s it about? Jennifer Lawrence plays a sexy Russian spy, who sets out to seduce a C.I.A agent and infiltrate his life.

The good: Director of the first Hunger Games film, Francis Lawrence, and Hunger Games starlet Jennifer Lawrence, are reuniting for an adaptation of a New York Times’ Bestseller. This sounds like a recipe for success, especially considering The Hunger Games‘ international success.

The bad: Plot wise, it all seems too familiar and, from the trailers alone, we can tell that Jennifer Lawrence’s Russian accent seems quite fake.

Braven

What’s it about? Jason Momoa is back, this time as a father defending his family, and cabin, against a group of drug runners.

The good: Let’s be honest, Jason Momoa is always entertaining to watch. Not to mention the fact that he always delivers when it comes to those good old fashion action films.

The bad: Same Sandwich, wrapped and presented in a different packaging. From the trailers alone, you just know how it’s all going to end.

The Hatching

What’s it about? A small town cop returns to his hometown, only to find that it has been haunted by a massive and mysterious creature lurking in its waters.

The good: This film seems to be both fun and absurd to watch, and the mystery of not knowing what the creature really is, adds to the fun.

The bad: Everything about this film looks cheap, from its production, to its trailer, and all the way to its CGI.
