We have missed writing these articles, and we are sure you cinephiles out there have similarly missed heading to the cinema. This week, in Cairo cinemas, sees the release of female led action-comedy Ocean’s 8, and the return of Academy-Award winning filmmaker, Ron Howard, with the film Solo: A Star Wars Story. This week also sees the 3D action & adventure film Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom. So, with out further a do, here is what you can expect from these films.

Ocean’s 8

What’s it about? The Ocean’s trilogy: 11, 12, and 13, told the story of a man named Danny Ocean (George Clooney), and his team of 11, 12, or 13 thieves as they attempt a seemingly impossible heist. This movie is about Danny’s sister, Debbie Ocean (Sandra Bullock), and her team of 8 thieves, again, attempting a seemingly impossible heist.

The good: We have to say we are in love with this trend of remaking movies, and giving them a female cast. Indeed, we can’t wait to  see what these stars- Sandra Bullock, Cate Blanchet, Rihanna, and many many more – will bring us.  We also especially love the idea of giving females a chance to compete with the their male counterparts within a genre that’s always been dominated by the latter group.

The bad: Are remakes always as good as the original films? Well, no, not really.

Solo: A Star Wars Story

What’s it about? During an adventure into the criminal underworld, Han Solo meets his future copilot Chewbacca and encounters Lando Calrissian years before joining the Rebellion.

The good: This movie is directed by Academy Award-winning filmmaker Ron Howard. Howard has directed movies like A Beautiful Mind (2001), Apollo 13 (1995), and Inferno (2016) .  It is, therefore, quite fair to assume that great film awaits us.

The bad: Those who are not all too familiar with the Star Wars franchise may not love this film very much.

Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom

What’s it about? When the island’s dormant volcano begins roaring to life, Owen and Claire mount a campaign to rescue the remaining dinosaurs from this extinction-level event.

The good: The ideal protagonist for a film like this one is Chris Pratt; we do expect some great action sequences.

The bad: The plot, the premise, and this entire franchise seems very “been there done that, about a million times over.”
