A hub of culture and talent, Palestine has birthed many inspiring, beautiful, and soul-stirring stories. All their art is concrete proof of that. Today, however, we’re zeroing in on their major contributions to the cinematic world. In recognition of these contributions, the Rotterdam Arab Film Festival will hold the Palestine Film Day, and we’re all here for it!

The Rotterdam Arab Film Festival, an annual festival dedicated to Middle Eastern and North African films, is set to kick off this year on the 30th of May and to run until the 2nd of June. During the festival, multiple movies are to be screened. From Egyptian comedy masterpieces like Fasel Men El Lahazat El Lazeeza to Moroccan magnum opuses like Backstage, the festival is a gateway for the Netherlands to indulge in a full, all-inclusive trip to our whole region!

On the 1st of June, the festival will give Palestinian works their rightfully deserved attention and recognition. From 1:15 pm to 9:25 pm, guests shall enjoy some Palestinian treats from their rich cinematic landscape. During the Palestine Film Day, two Palestinian movies are to be screened: LYD and The Teacher.

A movie generously gifted to the world by none other than Rami Younis and Sarah Ema Friedland, LYD is a poignant movie filled with the profound layers of tensions and conflicts that are prevalent in Palestine. As for Farah Nabulsi’s The Teacher, it features the story of a Palestinian schoolteacher and an American couple as they grapple with different losses.

However, the festival doesn’t just stop at screening Palestinian movies; there will be talks, conversations with audiences, and interviews. Needless to say, the Palestine Film Day offers a window to the world to witness Palestine’s beauty.

With all this in mind, the Rotterdam Arab Film Festival is a true pride-worthy event, especially considering the Palestine Film Day!
