Chili cheese fries are basically French fries that are covered with, duh, chili and cheese. It’s definitely worth the calorie intake, and it’s a sure home-run if you are chili fan. It is a favoured fast food appetiser – and let’s be honest- it’s simply delicious.

Of course, just like any amazing dish, trying to find out who is responsible for the very first one is quite difficult. Everyone wants to take credit for creating this creamy, crunchy, and spicy delight. Therefore, there are a lot of different origin stories going around, but what we do know is that chili cheese fries were being offered frozen as early as 1975 in the United States – good enough for us!

    Chili’s

Who hasn’t eaten at Chili’s? This American franchise has been standing its ground for well over a decade here in Cairo. It is no surprise that they have the Texas Cheese Fries for 79.99LE – with extra bacon, jalapenos, and green onions. Chili’s is everywhere; New Cairo, Sheikh Zayed, Heliopolis, El-Rehab, Maadi, El-Sherouk, Mohandseen, and Zamalek – no matter where you are, there’s always one that’s nearby.

    Willy’s Kitchen

Willy’s Kitchen chili cheese fries are out of this world and it’s only for 25.88LE – talk about the perfect midnight regret. If you are bored with regular french fries, well, you are in luck; you can order the same dish only with wedges – tiny details do come a long way for sure. The Burger Factory

Its menu is quite extensive and impressive; veggie burgers, hot dogs, milkshakes, and, of course, burgers. However, they also have the Texas Chili Cheese Fries for 31LE – tempting to say the least. You can give this appetiser a try at any of their branches in Sheikh Zayed, 6th of October, or Zamalek (that branch actually is open until 3.00 AM).

    Lucille’s

Maadi’s famous American/Mexican restaurant is actually also open in New Cairo. No doubt, that they would have this creamy bowl of French-fries bliss on their menu. It’s called the Mile High Chili Cheese Fries served with homemade chili, grated cheese, red onion, sour cream for a good 78.50LE. They open from 8.00 AM in Maadi and from 11.00 AM in New Cairo – give it a try, if you are in these areas.

    Mince

This burger joint started off small and suddenly, it was all over Cairo; from Zamalek and New Cairo, to Nasr City, Sheikh Zayed, 6th of October, Giza, and Heliopolis. Safe to say, it is one of the main players in the burger scene – which is great, because you can never have too many good burger joints. They have the original chili cheese fries for 50LE, but they also have the Waffle Potato Bites for 45LE, which is served with cheese sauce, mint yogurt, beef bacon bits, sweet relish, and pickles – talk about a real makeover.

    Chicken Fil-A
