The Philly cheesesteak sandwich is not getting the attention it deserves here in Cairo; juicy steak strips, melted cheese, and a fresh bread roll– what more could you ask for in a sandwich? Yes, each place adds its own unique touch to the recipe, but if done right, it is truly one of the most delightful sandwiches to have for lunch, brunch, or even dinner. It may have originated in Philadelphia (USA), but we rounded up a few places in Cairo where you can easily find it.

The Tap:           

Primarily a bar, The Tap is also a fantastic place to dine. Branches in Maadi, New Cairo, and Sheikh Zayed open daily at 4.00PM, serving an excellent menu. The Philly cheesesteak there is made with Provolone cheese, just like the original recipe, and is around 140LE–definitely worth a try.

30 North:

30 North is creating a smooth buzz in the specialty coffee and brunch fields with three branches at Mall of Arabia, Capital Business Promenade in Sheikh Zayed, and at Iconia in Zamalek. Among its vast, unique menu, there is the Philly cheesesteak, made with beef tenderloin and a side of homemade chips for 120LE.

T.G.I. Fridays:       

Fridays has always boasted an extensive menu filled with all of our classic American favourites, so it’s no surprise that we find the Philly cheesesteak sandwich amongst their dishes. Yet, they did substitute the bread roll for a flour tortilla to turn it into a Philly cheesesteak Wrap for 112LE –an interesting twist for sure. You can find a T.G.I Fridays everywhere around the city; in areas like New Cairo, Heliopolis, Sheikh Zayed, Giza, Al-Rehab City, and Maadi.

You can visit it at either its Sheikh Zayed branch in Majarrah Mall or Heliopolis. Country Hills has Southern casseroles, New York crust pizzas and chicken specialities, along with many other genuine American dishes. Their Philly cheesesteak has an addition of mushrooms and a creamy Philly sauce for 79LE.

Crave:

The Philly Cheesesteak Bowl Sandwich– that is the Crave version of the US’s renowned delight. For 99LE, you will get a bread bowl filled with all the sandwich’s ingredients topped with cheese gratin and a spicy dynamite dip. Find it in Maadi, Zamalek, and New Cairo.

Casper & Gambini’s:

From New Cairo, Heliopolis, and Downtown, to 6^th of October; Casper & Gambini’s is always keen to keep their menu up-to-date. They serve their Philly cheesesteak with freshly baked white baguette, fresh mushrooms, and Swiss melted cheese for 134LE – Yum!

Butcher’s Burger:

Their Philly Steak N’ Mushroom costs only 89LE and comes with fries! The steak sandwich is made with Emmental cheese, spicy mayo, mushroom, and bell peppers. Try it out at any of their branches spread across our capital; Zamalek, Heliopolis, Sheikh Zayed, or New Cairo.
